I have a old steel belt buckle and it has an aroma to it, is there anything I can do to get rid of smell?

I have never heard of metal picking up a smell but I would try cleaning it with some Bon Ami and a soft cloth. Or baking soda and a soft cloth. Try polishing it up and see if that helps.
