We had wood look laminate flooring installed a few months ago. Now, the part that is outside of the kitchen is buckling...so bad that you can feel the floor move below you feet..it looks like a "zig zag". I was thinking that maybe the installers didn't leave enough expansion space between the tile and the edge of the laminate... so I wanted to take up the transition piece to check it out. How can I remove it without ruining it? I know it was a 4-in-one with a track; I thought it would just pop off, but I can't figure it out. Any other ideas why my beautiful, expensive new floor would be doing this only in one place in the house? Is it possible that moist (not wet) dog paws walking on it could make this happen? The area that has "risen" is about 4x4 feet.
How to remove transition piece from laminate flooring? Floor buckling?
the top piece of the transition snaps into a track, a chisel or a real fine pry bar should help get it loose. don't know if you'll be able to salvage it though, however if you have an area 4 x 4 that's raised up it sounds like there's a fairly serious water problem your going to have to take up more than the transition strip to fix this. transition strip least of your worries.
