What is a buckle maid?
I have NO idea and I even googled it - no luck. I'm going to save this question in my favorites so I can come back and see if anyone knows the answer. Now I'm curious.
EDIT: There are several entries for a buckle MATE, are you sure you didn't hear it wrong?

Reply:Apparently it relates to a person hired exclusively to attend to the wedding dress after the wedding festivities and make sure it is properly preserved for the bride...thought you could just take it to a cleaners to have that done, but some people have more money than they know what to do with!
