How to measure a girth?

When you measure a girth do you count the ends of the buckles? My girth doesn't say the size on it and I want to get a new girth (because my current one is elasticless nylon and doesn't fit my horse very well) From the ends of the buckles its 48" and from the end of the nylon to the other end its 44". 48" makes more sense because a 38" is too small for him and my girth is too big for him but I just want to be sure

How to measure a girth?
You measure the entire girth including the buckles. So it will be a 48 if it measured 48" including the buckles.
Reply:This is a great question...have a star.

The girth is measured from buckle to buckle.
Reply:its great to go with the 44" so go for it girl!

Hope it works for you

Reply:Measure the girth from end of buckle to end of buckle. I your horse is average size a 46" to a 48" and that's about right. 38" would be tiny.

Hope this helps. The shop I work in allows the customer 48 hours to try on anything they want to purchase for fit...I think it is such a great concept.

If not for working there, I wouldn't have an answer for you. ;r
Reply:Most of the time the size is printed on them.

Reply:It makes sence to go 44" since you know that they run in even numbers and 38 is to small and 48 is to big. Also to sometimes you can take your horse and saddle to the place you get your tack at and they should let you take it out side and try it on your horse. It's important that you have the right fitting girth.
