I can't seem to buckle down and do the work when it comes to homework, any advice to help me?

Just some motivation or some advice to help me.

I can't seem to buckle down and do the work when it comes to homework, any advice to help me?
Dont think actually doing it too much, just get your books out and do it. I procrastinate a lot so I find if i just sit down and start, it helps. Also get rid of any distractions sit somewhere quite and comfortable, dont study in bed or you'll fall asleep and dont sit in front of the TV
Reply:Take away your distractions (Internet/ IMs/ TV)

When I can't concentrate on my homework I sometimes go for a jog, stretch, and/or exercise a little bit. It helps clear my mind and gets me energized.

I'm not sure from where, but I remember reading an article about eating an apple or an orange (something with lots of vitamin c) when you have to tackle something as boring and monotonous as homework, or taking a test. Eating an apple has worked for me.Try it.
Reply:Take a look around at all of the people who didn't buckle down and concentrate on their studies when they were younger and had a chance to take their life in a different direction and decide if you want that to be you in the near future.
Reply:Just remember that if you don't do your homework you will be tied down to some low level paying job for the rest of your life, looking at people who were not half as bright as you were in school, giving you orders. You will be earning less than they. Heard some statistic the other day that CEO's earn 400 times what a guy on the shop floor does. That means that you might be earning in one year what he or she does in one day. Try to make learning fun and you will enjoy it. You do what you enjoy, Right.
Reply:If you're having trouble studying, the first step is to figure out why. Are you being constantly distracted by the TV/radio/phone/computer, or is it that you can't seem to concentrate in the deadly silence that follows when you turn everything off? Do you run into trouble getting started, or do you slow down because there's no immediate visible effect? What works for others might be bad advice for you, depending on your situation.

What I would suggest are study groups. First, they will provide you with others who are (hopefully, if you picked them right) focused on learning the same material, which would expose you to their studying techniques as well as help you learn course content. Second, going to a study group may trick your mind into thinking of studying as a "duty," since you'll have the "responsibility" to hold your own in front of friends and might actually do some "preemptive studying" to be ready for the session. Third, if your study mates happen to get some concept you missed, you would have access to a second explanation of the same material - one that would have a greater chance to understand because the person relaying it would be closer to your knowledge level than the teacher.

But if you insist on solving your studying problems by studying alone, you have to determine why you're unable to study, find the cause, and fix it. Most schools have someone on staff who does precisely that; a counselor of some sort. If you ask for help, you will definitely find people willing to give it. After all, that's what they get paid to do.
Reply:Work is worship.

If you love Lord Krishna and find in him a playmate and enjoy his frolicking music and his advice good, or love the stories you read about gods and goddesses, then know that they did their homework and then played.

Make a time-table for home use. Follow it everyday. At the allotted time sit down and do all the home work.

If due to some adverse or unseen reasons you cannot finish your work, find time before the class to finish it and hand it over to the teacher. Negligence or not doing is behaviour for which you have to ask forgiveness from yourself. Who are you?

You are Gods child...little God. Therefore you have the right to scold yourself first. Do not give this opportunity to another, since it is not always nice to be shouted and scolded, isn't it?. Therefore always do the work you are given or take up on your own to your satisfaction.

Good luck. Follow these instructions and know that you are a child of God and have all the qualities to be a good noble loving God one day.

Blessings and all the courage conviction and confidence be yours.
Reply:actually, i go through the same thing but, you should just think about your future and think about plans
Reply:Stop procrastinating and get on with it.Do you have homework now/?
Reply:It depends from person to person, but usually a clean working space with only the materials you need (pencil, ruler, highlighter, etc.) far from common distractions (books, TV, etc.) works. Try your dining table, not the desk where you usually work.

Comfort is also a big factor. You'll want a chair that makes you sit up straight and pay attention. The lighting should be quite bright, so you aren't squinting over your paper. Squinting makes you tired. If you're hungry or thirsty, eat! A lot of water is good for your brain.

It also depends on what "kind" of person you are....if you enjoy mathematics more than English, for example, you might want to start with math first to get your brain working. Or, you can save the best for last, and do English first...but I find it easier to focus on other stuff after you do your favorite/best subject. A lot of people say to take breaks, but it's really easy to get distracted during these "breaks." I prefer to do everything in one seating, without even thinking of anything else.

haha - and sorry if i sound like a complete bore! I hope my advice works - mail me on it.
Reply:Yeah, I have always had the same problem. The only thing that works for me is to start working on it as soon as I encounter the problem even if it's just for a few minutes. I found that if I start something right away, it's much easier to finish it later. The longer I wait to start, the harder it is to get started. Sometimes a task seems so huge that you think you'll never get it done. It's hard to get started because it looks like so much work. That's because you're looking at the whole project all at once. You have to break a job down into small manageable pieces. Once you've done the first part of contemplating the problem and breaking it down, the rest is much easier. If you've at least begun working on it, it won't seem so bad when you return to it. In summary, do something right away even if you are really tired and only do it for a couple minutes. Then, schedule yourself a convenient time when you are going to be in the right frame of mind and start the bulk of the work. After you poop out, you'll only have a little work to finish. Some people like to have music on when they work, others like it quiet, but it never works to have the TV on or with a bunch of people talking. If you are in a crowded environment, get some headphones. Send me an email and I can explain in detail how to break a problem down.
