How do I prevent buckling on a rug that is on wall to wall carpeting?

Rugs really aren't designed to be used on carpet. However, you could try to purchase a rubber mesh designed to keep rugs from slipping on hardwood floors. Stretch the rug on the mesh and it may help keeping it from buckling. If you are putting something heavy on the rug (ie, table/chair/etc) then forget it. It will buckle no matter what.

For what it's worth, I had the same problem and ended up removing the carpet and installing a wood floor.

get some double sided tape and put all over the underside and place it carefully back into position. you'll prob need assistance depending on the size of the rug
Reply:you need to secure the edges better

make sure it is tight and then nail or staple it on the edges under the baseboard.
Reply:Have a steam cleaner come in and go over it good with some steam and then turn a hot hairdryer on it as it dries where the buckle is. It will shrink it up.
Reply:Velcro pads.
Reply:If the rug isn't too expensive you could use a few staples.
